Data has
structure. This structure can be proven. It is an inherent property of the data and is based on the 'meaning' of the data and it is completely independent of implementation technologies (e.g. object orientated,
relational database management system). By definition, information systems manipulate data. To ignore the structure of the data, when building or acquiring information systems, is to invite failure.
This course teaches data modelling as a business analysis technique. This technique is used in systems development and maintenance, systems integration, data migration, package evaluation and data architecture activities.
This course has been endorsed by the "International Institute of Business Analysis" (IIBA®) against the current official version (i.e. version 2.0) of "A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge®" (BABOK® Guide). Delegates earn 44 CDUs (Program code E120-02) by completing this course.
Target audience:
- Business Analysts.
- Systems' Analysts.
- Information Architects.
- Power Users.
The course is specifically designed to develop a delegate's competency in the technique. The training is experiential with a high degree of individual direction which is achieved through small class sizes (i.e. maximum 7 delegates).
The Data Modelling Course is delivered in four modules (i.e. Foundation, Initial, Intermediate, Advanced) each of which progressively builds the delegate's mastery of the technique. Depending on their role, a delegate may not need to complete all four modules however a delegate must meet the prerequisite for each module of the course they wish to attend.

Public presentations of this course are listed on this page. This course is also available for presentation in-house. In-house presentations can be tailored to customer specific requirements
(e.g. organisational standard notation, systems' delivery processes) and can be more cost effective. Please enquire for pricing of in-house delivery.
