Entity Relationship Data Modelling

Course Overview

The Entity Relationship Data Modelling Course consists of four stages. These are outlined below.

Foundation

Standard achieved:
  • literal interpretation of models
Minimum standard for:
  • reviewers; business and technical
Prerequisite:
  • none

Initial

Standard achieved:
  • development of low-complexity models
  • simple ‘what if’ analysis
Minimum standard for:
  • supporting role in model development
Prerequisite:
  • standard achieved in the Foundation course

Intermediate

Standard achieved:
  • development of moderate-complexity models
  • ability to explore business rules based on ‘what if’ analysis
  • awareness of types of implications there are for the physical design (eg, user interface, data and business process)
Minimum standard for:
  • lead role in model development
Recommended standard for:
  • business reviewers
Prerequisite:
  • standard achieved in the Initial course

Advanced

Standard achieved:
  • development of high-complexity models
  • business rule inference through ‘what if’ analysis
  • identification of physical design impacts
Recommended standard for:
  • lead role in developing data models
  • technical reviewers
Prerequisite:
  • standard achieved in the Intermediate course
